Horseshoe Bend is a prime location in the Ozarks, which is famous for its natural beauty and splendor. An hour's drive to the southwest will take you to Blanchard Springs Caverns, within the Ozark National Forest. Mammoth springs, home of the worlds largest spring, is located an hour to the northwest and the White river, known for its great fishing, is only thirty minutes away.

Horseshoe Bend is situated upon the eastern Ozarks' pristine Strawberry River. While the community is certainly 'out of the way', it is easily accessible by highway or by air. It has its own 4,520-foot paved and lighted airstrip that is numbered 31 and 13. The airport lights are responsive to aircraft radios set on a frequency of 122.8 and (5) clicks of the button. The approach to runway 31 is visually indicated by a PAPI Guidance System as an aid to all pilots. The aircraft beacon and a mid-field wind tee are both controlled by photo electric cells. A pilots lounge that includes a restroom, waiting room with a TV, a public phone and an office is available for use by visiting pilots.

There are several lakes in the area including Crown, Diamond and Pioneer Lake. Box Hound Marina is a full-service marina located on 645-acre Crown Lake. Boat rentals are available. Rivers, some of which are stocked and regulated by the state, include: Strawberry, White, Spring and Southfork. The White River is famous for the world record German Brown Trout (39 lbs.)
